Mr. Chair,

I strongly believe that women should be considered as equals to men, and no less. Women should not be treated as second-class citizens, but unfortunately they are treated as such when it comes to equal pay and other areas. For those reasons I stand in support of this amendment.

I yield.

Mr. Chairman,

Could someone give concrete evidence of how men and women are not treated equal?

I yield.

Mr. Chair,

How exactly are women not being treated equally under the law? Until this is answered, I will vote nay on the amendment.
I yield.

Mr. Chair:

As one who was raised a bit of a Westerner, I have to believe in the concept of equality. Women make .77 dollars to a man's dollar.

And so, really, I think we still are still - some of us - consider women inferior.

I would inform this committee, that I take the opinion of John Adams that women are vastly equal, if not superior (! and thank you Abigail Adams) to men.

I frankly think it's time to codify that they are equal into law.

I yield,

Mr. Chairman,

Has the committee thought that maybe the job experience that leads to this difference? This bill does nothing to address the problem that Mr. Hatcher brings to the committee. It's more feel good legislation that is too broad and leaves the door open for abuse.

I yield.
